Bald ist es soweit. Microsoft stellt den Support für Office 2007 ein. Es wird also Zeit, sich um eine Office-Version zu kümmern. Die Office-Installationen funktionieren zwar auch nach den angegebenen Terminen weiter, aber es werden keine Sicherheitsupdates mehr geliefert. Microsoft bietet für seine Office-Produkte fünf Jahre Mainstream-Support. In dieser Zeit werden Fehler ausgemerzt und ggf. Neuerungen implementiert. Für weitere fünf Jahre bietet Microsoft den sogenannten Extended-Support an, in dem relevanten Sicherheitsupdates veröffentlicht werden. Damit werden Office-Programm i. d. R. 10 Jahre supportet.
